What are the main advantages of Kevlar cord compared to other materials such as nylon or dyneema?

Kevlar lanyard offers incredibly superior strength compared to nylon or dyneema at the same length, making it ideal for high safety applications such as rappelling or belaying on sharp edges and spikes.

Is it safe to use Kevlar cord for climbing maneuvers?

Yes, the Kevlar cord is safe and reliable thanks to its high resistance of 1800 daN, and is commonly used in mountaineering for self-locking knots and rappels, thanks also to its high melting point which makes it fireproof.

How do you find out about the available length of Kevlar cord?

Beal Kevlar cord is available by the metre, allowing you to purchase the desired length without waste, simple to order directly based on the specific needs of each use.

What are the technical characteristics of the Beal 5.5mm Kevlar cord?

The 5.5 mm Beal Kevlar cord has a breaking strength of 1800 daN, weighs approximately 23 grams per meter and offers high strength and durability thanks to the use of Kevlar material, also adopted in military and space contexts.

How do you care for and maintain Kevlar cord over time?

To maintain the properties of the Kevlar cord, it is recommended to clean it with fresh water and avoid prolonged exposure to aggressive chemicals or extreme heat conditions, thus ensuring long life and safety in operations.

Kevlar cord available in the desired length

Beal Aramid is a high strength 5.5mm Kevlar cord, available by the metre. With a high melting point (which is why it is considered a fireproof material) Kevlar is particularly suitable for making self-locking Machard or Prusik knots to be used for abseiling.

Kevlar is a very resistant material, used in technological contexts even outside of mountaineering, such as the naval, space or bulletproof vests. With the same thickness, compared to nylon or Dyneema lines, it has an incredibly superior hold.

The greater resistance to support on edges makes it particularly recommended for belaying hourglasses and sharp spikes.

The Beal Aramid 5.5mm Kevlar cord has a strength of 1,800 daN (Kg).

Beal is a French company, world leader in the production of mountain ropes thanks to an advanced technological development in the manufacturing process which has earned it the ISO 9001 certificate. Always attentive to the needs of climbers, it has been able to bring dynamism to the practice of climbing thanks to intense research.
